Pre-Continuous ShootingNewly available in the EOS R5 Mark II is the ability to bank up to 15 shots of pre-continuous shooting by half-depressing the shutter button before firing. When the shutter button is fully pressed, the previous half-second of images are written to the memory card, allowing users to “go back in time” to recover a decisive moment they might have missed.

Noise Reduction and In-Camera Upscaling

Its native ISO range of 100-51200 accommodates various lighting conditions, with the DIGIC Accelerator enabling Neural Network Noise Reduction for cleaner images, particularly at higher ISO settings. Furthermore, this processing capability facilitates In-Camera Upscaling, allowing for the creation of higher resolution images up to 179MP. Using deep learning algorithms, this feature doubles pixel count both horizontally and vertically, resulting in larger, more detailed images while preserving sharpness and clarity.

Coordinated Control Image Stabilization
Designed for handheld use, the R5 Mark II’s lightweight and compact design is complemented by enhanced internal components that deliver superior performance. Coordinated control optimizes the effectiveness of image stabilization, particularly beneficial for handheld shooting in low-light conditions and minimizing shake during video recording. The five-axis in-body image stabilizer (IBIS) corrects up to 8.5 stops of camera shake at the center of the frame and 7.5 stops at the edges when used with compatible lenses. Additionally, Movie Digital IS combines optical and sensor-shift stabilization with digital IS to produce smoother video footage, even when shooting on the move.

A Cinema EOS-Integrated 8K PowerhouseThe R5 Mark II inherits many of innovations that made its other relative, the R5 C, a favorite among combination video-stills shooters, and carries over much of its Cinema EOS cousin’s features and workflow. Like its predecessors, the 45MP full-frame sensor enables impressively high-resolution DCI 8K raw video recording internally, now up to 60 fps, along with 4K SRAW also at the full sensor width.
